Have you ever read a blog post or news article online and seen a button labeled Share This? Check out this interview with ShareThis founder Tim Shigel, conducted by Jesse Draper of The Valley Girl Show.
Sharing is so important to the future of the Web – and for disseminating your association’s content! So many of us share articles and content on Facebook and Twitter, using tools like ShareThis, and in some cases, sharing is becoming more prevalent and important than searching.
TALK TO US: Where do you get info? Do you search? Or do you get recommendations from your friends’ social streams?
We’re just about halfway through the week; we hope everyone is having a good one!
Today we have some awesome slideshows to share (courtesy of SlideShare). Building communities can be challenging, but nurturing them and allowing them to flourish can sometimes be even more difficult. The presentations below have some great tips.
TALK TO US: What has been the most challenging aspect of building your association’s online community?
How well do you prep your speakers before your events?
Isn’t that the most important thing when planning a speech or session? Of course, your speaker’s area of expertise doesn’t change, but the people to whom they’re speaking do.
When you’re scheduling speakers for your next conference, meeting or event, here are some things to tell your speakers:
Audience demographics and professional experience
Audiovisual and room set-up information
How flexible is the room set-up?
Are there opportunities to speak to audience members before the even to learn about their expectations?
Does the audience have experience with new and social technologies, if applicable?
If any organizations have difficult names to pronounce, phonetic spellings can be helpful
Is the audience used to holding Q&A’s at the end of the session, or during it?
Will there be a Twitter feed for the conference?
Will there be a Twitter backchannel used during the sessions?
Give them information on the entire event. Background info is a must.
Some of this information is readily available, and there’s no reason speakers shouldn’t have access to it.
I wanted to share some interesting information about how technology has affected recruiting. The Internet has helped people search for jobs and search for prospective candidates practically since its inception, and now it’s rare to receive a resume through “snail mail.”
TALK TO US: How does your association use technology to recruit? Do you take out ads on LinkedIn? Do you use your MemberClicks Career Center?
Happy Thursday, Splash blog readers! Is it just us, or has this week gone by extraordinarily quickly?
